Why Playful Pears Stories Was Born
When trying to find early Spanish books for my toddler, I kept hitting a wall. It was hard to find simple stories that taught first words and phrases in a way that felt natural, interactive, and fun for a bilingual home.
One night, after nursing my son, I couldn’t fall back asleep. Sitting in the quiet, I opened my phone and began listing the first words I was actively working on teaching my daughter in Spanish, along with ASL. I focused on what actually worked and mattered: consistent repetition, action modeling, and simple, engaging language.
Before I knew it, those late-night notes turned into the very first draft of Patito Habla.
From our Family to Yours
Patito Habla began with the words I was teaching in my own home, but my hope is that it becomes part of the little moments in yours too.
The pointing, repeating, giggling, flipping the pages together. Those everyday moments are where so much learning happens.
At Playful Pears Stories, my goal is to build simple Spanish books that help little ones find their words while giving families something even more important: a reason to learn, play, and connect together.
Because sometimes the smallest words create the sweetest moments.
Tested and Loved at Home
One of my favorite moments since creating Patito Habla was watching my daughter “read” it to her baby brother and showing him the different actions and phrases from the book.
It’s moments like this that remind me exactly why I created Patito Habla in the first place. My hope is that these little books can bring the same kind of learning, connection, and sweet moments into other families’ homes.
